HomelabWatts

About HomelabWatts

HomelabWatts is an independent, free reference for homelab power & energy cost. It pairs a hardware wattage database of 26 common homelab devices with a cost calculator so you can estimate what any NAS, mini-PC, server, GPU or switch costs to run before you buy or build. Know exactly what your homelab costs to run. Every figure is an estimate, clearly labelled, and every data page shows its source and date.

Why this exists

"How much will this cost to run?" is one of the most-asked questions in r/homelab and r/selfhosted — and the answers are scattered across spec sheets that overstate draw and forum threads with one-off measurements. HomelabWatts collects realistic idle/load figures in one place and turns them into a clear monthly and annual cost for your electricity price.

How we work

Wattage figures are compiled from manufacturer specifications and community wall-meter measurements, then cross-checked and labelled as typical estimates. Electricity prices come from public datasets (U.S. EIA and Eurostat). Pages are generated from structured data and standard formulas. See our methodology for sources, the curation process and known limitations.

Independence & corrections

We are not affiliated with any hardware manufacturer. If you have measured a device and our figure looks off, please send the reading — corrections improve the database for everyone. Get in touch.
